A Look Back and A Look Forward

With the start of a new year, it gives everyone a chance to look back and reflect on their achievements from the past year, and we at the Little School are no different. So lets que the flashback noise and weird wavey screen wobble and see what happened last year!

2013

2013 was a big year for the Little School. Although we officially opened in 2012, we only really started our classes a year ago this month. In that time, we’ve run a variety of courses with a range of different themes which we like to think have helped to spark the imagination and creativity in the students we have met.

It was also a year of experimentation as we struggled to come up with the best possible class structure to give you, our fans and customers, the most value for our money. We’ve gradually been able to fine tune this, lowering our prices and fitting more into our modules. This is an ongoing process though (more on that in a minute).

We’ve also launched our own website which has made booking onto our courses easier than ever! We are really proud of our home on the web (although we still need to apply a few licks of paint here and there) and are really grateful to our friends at Ph.Creative for all the hard work they put into building it.

Finally, and possibly most humbling, we received the “Best Club/Class for 8-11 Year Olds” award in the Family Go Live Awards 2013. Firstly, it was a shock to find ourselves nominated for this but it was truly astounding to learn that you guys were the ones who voted us into the winning position! We’ve said it before, but to everyone who voted for us, thank you. It means a great deal to us to know you are enjoying the Little School as much as we are!

2013 was an awesome year but whilst looking back, we are also looking forward to 2014 and have some big things to announce.

2014

Firstly, we are lowering the price for our modules! From here on out, each week with a module will cost a flat £10. If a module is 2 weeks long, the cost will be £20; 5 week module will be £50… you get the idea. This works out at just £5 per hour of tuition from our most awesome Dean. We also just happen to have announced our next module, Mr Grimm's Prehistoric Park!

Secondly, we will be starting some new classes aimed squarely at the older kids. We know that rebellious teenagers want to express themselves in their own way, rather than following a guided theme for a course. As such, we will be offering more of a mentoring program where students will come up with their own projects and will be taught the skills needed to complete these projects. The details for this are still being hammered out so watch this space!

And thirdly, Amber has a big move coming up! She will shortly be moving house meaning she will now have her very own private workshop in which to work on creating her monsters. This might take a while to get set up and fully functional, but we’re sure there will be plenty of photo’s to follow!

We do have a few other little things up our sleeves but don’t want to spoil the surprises on these too soon. You’ll just have to keep your eyes peeled here and on our Facebook.

So, as big as 2013 was, 2014 is set to be even bigger! We’re looking forward to it and hope you are too!
